The fake server hack is for Windows Mobile 5.0 users to avoid having ActiveSync running even though they do not sync directly with Exchange. You will need to setup a fake server entry in ActiveSync to sync with Exchange. Then delete it.

To setup the fake server, launch ActiveSync and click on Menu - Add New Server Source and then entering a host name, username and password. Then click on Menu - Options and select the Echange server and click on the Delete button.
