Windows Mobile is the name of the combination of the Windows CE operating system and a custom user interface as well as a set of applications that make up a device's operating system.
The devices fall into two families: Pocket PC and Smartphone. The main differences between them is that the Pocket PC uese a touch screen while a Smartphone uses a cell phone style keypad and does not have a touch screen.
In 2003 with the release of Windows Mobile 2003, Pocket PC and Windows Mobile 2003 Smartphone, Microsoft introduced the Windows Mobile branding.
With Windows Mobile 5.0, Microsoft has been working on integrating the look and feel of the Pocket PC and Smartphone so that developers and users can easily move between the two different form factors.
